Use the bridge as a way for the students to test the tension on their harp. The string behind the bridge is all the same length-if they are the same tension, that length of the string should all be the same pitch. This is a way to control the variable of tension in the fair test.
Also, the frequency of the vibrations is easier to see with the bridge under the strings. This is important when preparing students for the C-E-R for this lesson. Make sure to guide students to look at the vibrations of the different lengths of strings and gather data about what they see.
